The Dow Jones futures (E-mini Dow) are currently putting on a masterclass in resilience on Thursday, outperforming both the Nasdaq (NQ) and S&P 500 (ES) futures.
While tech is enduring a classic "sell the news" post-Nvidia drag, the Dow is grinding higher and targeting major breakout territory. Dow futures are hovering right around 50,022 handle, trading virtually flat-to-slightly negative (-0.19%) on the day after a massive, oil-relief-driven 1.3% gain in yesterday's cash session.

The oil rally yesterday came about after President Trump noted that negotiations with Tehran were in their "final stages." Since then, prices have rebounded slightly (Brent back above $106, WTI pushing near $99.80) because Trump added a caveat that Tehran could face "another big hit" if negotiations fall through.
What is Going to Drive Sentiment in the US Session?
The US-Iran deal is back front and center after President Trump's comments yesterday. Since then though, Iranian politicians' comments have done little to appease markets regarding a peace deal.
The rhetoric continues to sound like a deal remains out of reach given the lack of flexibility by both parties on key points. Just a short while ago, reports filtered through that Iran's Supreme Leader has ordered that near-weapons-grade uranium must stay in Iran.
This remains a key driver of today's overall market sentiment and price action, alongside Nvidia's earnings release, which ultimately triggered a 'sell the news' reaction.
What is Behind the Dow's Resilience?
One of the key factors could be that the Dow is price-weighted, therefore it isn’t deeply beholden to Nvidia’s massive market cap fluctuations the way the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are.
While tech traders are suffering an implied volatility crush because Nvidia's 85% revenue spike "wasn't enough to sustain the AI hype train," the Dow is comfortably insulated from that tech-sector fatigue.
Upcoming Economic Data to Serve as a Catalyst?
While the factors discussed are likely to drive markets today, there is some economic data from the US which could impact price action.
Keep an eye on the economic calendar for sudden volume spikes. We have U.S. Weekly Jobless Claims, the results of a regional manufacturing survey for May, S&P Global's May flash manufacturing purchasing managers' index and April Housing Starts hitting the tape.

I am still of the opinion that if the data is to have a material and sustainable impact on the Dow, a significant beat or miss will be needed.
Technical Analysis - Dow Jones Futures (E-mini Dow)
The H4 chart highlights a prominent horizontal resistance line at 50,000. Price recently broke sharply above this major psychological milestone, printing a high near 50200 before facing intense selling pressure.
The most recent H4 candle is a volatile, long-wicked bearish pin bar/rejection candle tracking right at 49,997.
This could be a sign of strong intraday profit-taking and distribution as sellers defend the 50000 zone.
The lower horizontal black line establishes a robust floor down at 49,000, which heavily protected the downside in late April and early May, with the 200-day MA resting just above at 49,189.
The 20 and 50-day MAs are sloping upward, indicating steady buying momentum over the last few sessions.

Bullish Scenario: If buyers can consolidate the price above the 20-day MA (49,761) and absorb the supply at 50,000, a clean break targets a continuation toward 50,300.
Bearish Scenario: Given the combination of the bearish rejection candle at the psychological big figure and the RSI bearish divergence, a short-term pullback is highly likely.
Watch for a retest of the dynamic support zone between 49,761 (MA 20) and 49,658 (MA 50).
