Who is Anthony Crudele?

Anthony Crudele started on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in 1995 as an 18-year-old runner, a job he took while recovering from a serious car accident after high school. He worked as a clerk in Eurodollar options, moved to the S&P 500 pit and, in March 1999, obtained his own seat, making him, as he tells it, one of the youngest members in the exchange’s history. He has been candid that he lost his first account within six months. He rebuilt, and when the E-mini S&P migrated to the Globex screen he was among the earliest independent traders to follow it. He remained a CME member for 23 years.

A heart attack at his trading desk at 36, which he attributes to the stress of scalping, reshaped his approach. He moved from pure scalping to what he calls a hybrid: reading the market environment first, sizing selectively and, in his phrase, knowing when to "trade big, small or not at all". He has since spoken often about heart-rate control, mindfulness and treating focus as part of the edge.

In 2014 he founded the Futures Radio Show, a long-form interview podcast that has run to about 250 episodes with a 4.9-star rating on Apple Podcasts. Its guest list reads as a who’s who of futures trading and macro: Linda Raschke, Larry Williams, Anna Coulling, Brian Shannon, Jason Shapiro, Peter Schiff, Denise Shull and Jim Bianco. CME Group, NinjaTrader and FTSE Russell are among the show’s listed sponsors. His 2019 "Trading Futures with Anthony Crudele" roundtables remain the most-watched videos on his own channel.

In October 2024 NinjaTrader announced a partnership naming him senior vice president of NinjaTrader Live, and in March 2025 the broadcast launched. It runs weekday mornings and afternoons plus a Sunday session, with Crudele leading a desk that includes economist Tracy Shuchart and strategist Jim Cagnina. NinjaTrader’s chief executive called him "the leading voice for active retail futures traders." His own channel and podcast feed went quiet for a year while he built the show. In July 2026 he took the programme to London for FIA IDX, and in September he resumed publishing guest interviews under the NinjaTrader Live banner.

Three decades in, Crudele is the connective tissue of retail futures: the host every serious trader has sat down with, the floor veteran newcomers learn the history from, and now the face of a broadcast that runs six days a week. His openness about the heart attack that changed his trading, and the humility of "everything works sometimes, but nothing works all the time," are why the industry keeps listening.

How Anthony trades

Environment before setup

The framework Crudele teaches starts by classifying the market environment rather than hunting for a pattern. He sorts the tape into three regimes. In consolidation, price is two-way and range-bound. In expansion, or trend, it moves in one direction. In mean reversion, a stretched move pulls back. The trade plan is a function of which regime is in force, and the environment is read on the daily chart and executed on 60- and 30-minute charts, occasionally down to three minutes.

His main instrument for that read is a 20-period Bollinger Band set at three standard deviations, with Fibonacci levels drawn from the band peaks, supplemented by anchored VWAP with one-, two- and three-standard-deviation bands. In 2021 he published Beacon, an open-source TradingView indicator built around the same mean-reversion logic, which has drawn more than a thousand likes on the platform.

Sizing, risk and instruments

The mantra "trade big, small or not at all" governs sizing. Position size is set in dollars rather than contracts and scaled to conviction about the environment, and a large share of the discipline is declining to trade when the read is unclear. Where a futures stop would need to be too wide, he uses options on futures to define the risk instead. Holding periods for his documented trend strategy run one to five days, a long way from the pit scalping he started with.

He trades index futures (the E-mini S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 and Russell 2000), and his chart work on Instagram ranges across crude oil, gold and the indices. A pre-market note, "Deli’s Daily Note," sets out the environment and key ES, NQ and RTY levels for subscribers. As with every trader profiled here, the approach is described from his own material and is not a recommendation; futures trading involves substantial risk of loss.
