How to read these hours
- Halt means trading pauses and resumes the same evening. Close means the session ends.
- A 5:00 pm CT reopen starts the next trading day, so evening trading on a holiday counts toward the following day's P&L and settlement.
- Settlement times can differ from trading hours on shortened days.
- CME usually finalizes holiday hours about two weeks ahead. Always confirm on CME Group's trading hours page before trading a holiday session.

Is the futures market open on Thanksgiving 2026?
Partly. On Thursday Nov 26, CME equity index and interest rate futures trade until a 12:00 pm CT (1:00 pm ET) halt, and energy and metals until 1:30 pm CT. They reopen at 5:00 pm CT. Grains are closed all day. There is no Thursday trade date: that trading counts toward Friday.
What time do futures close the day after Thanksgiving?
On Friday Nov 27, 2026, equity index and rates futures close at 12:15 pm CT (1:15 pm ET). Energy, metals and FX close at 1:45 pm CT (2:45 pm ET). Grains trade 8:30 am to 12:05 pm CT.
Are futures open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2026?
Christmas Eve (Thu Dec 24) is a shortened session: equity index and rates close at 12:15 pm CT, energy, metals and FX at 12:45 pm CT. Christmas Day is closed. Trading resumes Sunday Dec 27 at 5:00 pm CT.
Why are the times in Central Time?
CME Group runs on Central Time, and its trade dates and halts are set on that clock. Eastern Time is always one hour later, because the two zones change for daylight saving on the same day.
Do these hours apply to my prop firm account?
These are exchange hours. Prop firms and brokers can set their own rules around holidays, such as earlier flatten times or no trading during shortened sessions, so check your firm's rules as well.
