Bitcoin Is Coiling, Not Dying: Strong Hands Accumulate as BTC Grinds the $60–65K Range

Bitcoin is trapped in a two-month range as strong hands accumulate. A $65K breakout could signal a potential rally toward the $70k handle.

Bitcoin is refusing to move, and that stillness is the most interesting thing about it. BTC is changing hands near $64,200, up a token 0.9% on the day but essentially flat on the week and boxed inside the $60,000–$65,000 range it has held for two months — roughly 50% below its October 2025 record near $126,000.

Beneath that flat tape, two forces are pulling hard in opposite directions, and the resolution is unlikely to be gentle.

A Range That Won't Break — in Either Direction

Even a genuine risk-on session couldn't spring it. Equities printed records and oil cratered on hopes of a Strait of Hormuz deal that President Trump called “imminent,” yet crypto took only fleeting support — capital is favouring AI equities with visible fundamentals over speculative digital assets.

Ether (~$1,873, +0.8%), Solana (+1.1%) and BNB (+1.6%) firmed modestly while XRP and DOGE slipped. The complex is following Bitcoin's paralysis, not leading it.

Strong Hands Are Buying the Silence

The bid under the range is conviction money. On-chain data shows long-term holders — wallets holding six months or longer — added roughly 380,000 BTC over the past 30 days, about $24.3 billion and nearly 2% of total supply.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs have swung back to inflows, taking in around $381 million over the last five sessions after two months of heavy outflows. This is accumulation into weakness, the pattern that tends to precede a base rather than a breakdown.

The Overhangs Keeping a Lid On

The other side is just as real. The same long-term-holder profitability metric that confirms accumulation has ticked back above 1, flagging renewed profit-taking into strength. A roughly $120 million Coldcard exploit has rattled self-custody confidence.

Swissblock's risk index has climbed to 58, warning that selling pressure is building as price nears a technical breakdown point. And Bitcoin remains a high-beta risk asset, which keeps the yen carry-trade unwind — the same US–Japan intervention dynamic pressuring FX this week — squarely on the radar as a risk-off tail.

Strategy Stabilises — and Turns Seller

The Strategy (MSTR) complex, a recurring pressure valve for this market, has calmed. Its preferred stock STRC has rebounded more than 30% from June lows to about $94 as the company built a $4 billion cash reserve (roughly 2.3 years of dividend coverage), repurchased $106 million of the stock and held its 12% dividend, eyeing September 8 for a return to par.

The catch: it funded part of that by selling 5,226 BTC for $321 million, trimming holdings to about 842,137 BTC. Small in isolation — but the largest corporate holder is now demonstrating it will sell coins, not just hoard them, a subtle shift in the marginal-buyer story.

The Levels and the Trigger

Technically, BTC sits inside a weekly falling wedge, having bounced off the lower trendline near $62,000 — a structure that typically resolves higher.

The trigger is clean: a daily close above $65,000 coupled with a four-hour candle close above the wedge, opens a measured target near $69,000, but bulls first have to reclaim the $65,000–shelf.

Lose $62,000 and the $58,000 handle comes back into focus.

– Until one of those boundaries goes, this is a range to trade, not a trend to chase.

– The binary is $65K up (wedge confirmation) versus $62K/$58K down (structure failure) — the middle is noise.
