Nasdaq futures from zero, taught live in Spanish

StartupTrader takes complete beginners into Nasdaq futures, in Spanish and in public. Its free four-session seminar runs every two months, and by mentor Mauro Giraldo’s count more than 35,000 people have attended. The teaching is live and built around a liquidity-pool method that treats "strong" support and resistance as the places where stops are waiting.

Who is StartupTrader?

StartupTrader is a futures academy built for Spanish speakers who have never looked at a price chart. It teaches one market on one platform, Nasdaq futures on NinjaTrader 8, and it teaches it live. The YouTube channel has close to 900,000 views across 647 videos, including more than 220 replays of live classes and about 120 lessons and trade reviews. Pre-market streams have listed start times for New York, Bogotá, Argentina and Spain, which says a lot about who is watching. In its mentor’s words, StartupTrader is "una empresa de acompañamiento y de formación de traders" [a company that trains traders and supports them along the way].

That mentor, Mauro Giraldo, is the academy’s face on YouTube and on an Instagram account with 56,000 followers. "Hola, soy Mauro de StartupTrader Academy," he begins the channel’s 2024 welcome video, and then he tells his story plainly. His first career is in film and television, directing and producing, and he still loves the cameras and the lights. Trading came second, after cryptocurrency gains and losses ended in what he calls "una quiebra financiera tremenda" [a tremendous financial collapse]. He rebuilt himself as a day trader specialising in Nasdaq futures on NinjaTrader, and by mid-2024 he was about four years in. Trading, he says, now lets him invest in the gear of his first career. An older lesson has stayed with him too. The first time he bought equipment with borrowed money, thieves emptied the office. His advice to traders follows from it: no business survives without a plan for its capital and its losses.

The channel opened in September 2019 and posted its first trade reviews in August 2020, on S&P 500 futures with MZpack order flow. In 2021 it settled on the Nasdaq. Its own description sums up the method as "seguimiento de movimientos institucionales del precio" [following institutional price movement]. The most-watched lesson, from January 2022, turns textbook support and resistance around. Retail traders, Giraldo argues, park their stop-loss orders above a resistance that keeps holding and below a support that keeps holding. He calls that pocket a "zona de alimentación" [feeding zone] or liquidity pool, because that is where bigger players feed. Market structure, order blocks and volume fill out the toolkit. So does displacement, meaning price travelling from point A to point B. "Si no hay desplazamiento no hay facturación" [no displacement, no income], he tells his live room.

The way in is free. Every two months the academy runs La Ciencia Detrás del Trading [The Science Behind Trading], a four-session live seminar for beginners. By Giraldo’s count, more than 35,000 people have taken part. The next edition runs from 27 to 30 October 2026. Students who want more can join a mentoring programme with video courses, chat support, live analysis calls, a trading journal and planner, an AI help centre and one-to-one coaching. Trading Room Pro, the live analysis room, meets three days a week from 9:15 am New York time. The academy also runs its own funded-account brand, StartupFunded, and gives evaluations away in live draws on Mondays and Fridays. A success-stories page doubles as a portrait of the students, many of them Latin Americans living in the United States. The people on it include a nurse, a construction worker, an industrial engineer and a former university professor.

In 2026 the channel has been organised around numbered live series. Libertad Financiera [Financial Freedom] opened the year, a podcast followed in April and De cero a Trader Fondeado [From Zero to Funded Trader] prep classes came in May. Thirteen Trading en Vivo sessions ran in July and August, some of them streamed from New York. Mentalidad Bíblica para Day Traders [Biblical Mindset for Day Traders] arrived in October. In the run-up to the October seminar, a pre-market class went out from about 8:35 am Eastern on most weekdays. The thread through all of it is patience: one market, one platform, a mentor on camera every week, and a long runway for people starting from zero.

How StartupTrader trades

Feeding zones and the myth of the strong level

StartupTrader reads the Nasdaq as a contest between retail traders and larger players. In its signature lesson Giraldo marks equal highs and equal lows on a one-minute Nasdaq futures chart. He treats them as targets rather than barriers, because that is where stop-loss orders gather. A falling structure is expected to go after the equal lows beneath it, and a rising one the equal highs above. "Para el mercado el concepto fuerza es un invento" [for the market, the idea of strength is an invention], he tells his live room. A level that looks solid can give way in a single candle.

Execution sits on top of that map. Market structure and structural breaks set the direction, and order blocks mark where price may react. Volume and order-flow readings in MZpack, a fixture of the channel since 2020, show how hard each side is fighting at a level. He checks five-, fifteen- and thirty-minute candles before committing. In a 2024 tutorial drawn from his live room, he keeps the risk on each position small and takes break-even when a trade stalls.

Mindset first, then funded accounts

Psychology gets as much airtime as charts. The channel runs psychotrading and mindset sessions, along with faith-based series such as Mentalidad Bíblica para Day Traders. One class is built on "los cuatro pilares de una mente rentable" [the four pillars of a profitable mind]. Money management is taught as a habit. In the welcome video Giraldo warns that money in a trading account cannot be counted on until it has been withdrawn to the bank, a lesson he says he learned the hard way.

The practical aim is for students to trade a funded account rather than their own savings. Classes walk through evaluation and funded-account rules, and show how to connect a free demo account to practise first. An August 2026 session weighed which contract a beginner should start on, NQ or the Micro MNQ. The academy’s own StartupFunded accounts run on Rithmic and cover NQ, ES and their micro contracts. As with every profile here, the approach is described from the firm’s own material and is not a recommendation; futures trading involves substantial risk of loss.

See how the wider prop-trading field is positioned in NQ while you study a method like this: MarketFramework's Positioning Edge shows live long/short splits across ES, NQ, MES and MNQ from real evaluation and funded accounts, and Prop Backtest scores strategies against prop-firm rules.
