Who is Pinelo Trading?

Pinelo Trading is the Spanish-language channel of Sergio Pinelo, a day trader from Seville who has traded live on camera since 2020. By his count he has run more than 1,000 live sessions, first at the Nasdaq open on funded prop-firm accounts and now in US small caps. His most-watched videos are the guides a Spanish-speaking prop trader needs first: what a funded account is and how to set up NinjaTrader and Rithmic Trader. In October 2026, ten years into his trading career, he visited the New York Stock Exchange with SageTrader and XVN Trading.

Trading found him by chance. In 2016, while studying for a degree in finance and accounting, he went with classmates to a free trading event in Seville. "Fue un flechazo" [It was love at first sight], he says. He kept trading alongside his studies, and his first payout, from a funded account, came about four years later. That is why "no tengas prisa" [don’t be in a hurry] tops the list of ten lessons he drew from that decade in a May 2026 video. He opened the YouTube channel in September 2019 and published his first video in March 2020. By late 2021 he was streaming the New York open every trading day for viewers in Spain and Latin America.

For most of those years his market was Nasdaq futures on prop-firm accounts, and the channel grew around that work. He traded funded accounts live on his daily streams, explained the rules of firm after firm in Spanish and ran trading tournaments for his community in 2021 and 2024. His four-minute explainer from July 2021, "¿Qué es una cuenta de fondeo?" [What is a funded account?], has passed 69,000 views. Three of his five most-watched videos are NinjaTrader tutorials. Other shows took notice. El psicólogo del trading had him walk through his funded-account strategy in 2022, and Canal Trader, FxToni and Wall Street Panda followed with long interviews.

Small caps arrived in 2024. That April, the month his channel passed 10,000 subscribers, he met traders working US small-cap stocks at the HolaTraders event in Madrid. He began training with Xavi Comas’s XVN Trading, and that December he looked back on his first 100 days in the new market. Small caps are now his main specialty. As part of the XVN team he gives weekly coaching sessions in its advanced small-cap program, which pairs Comas’s daily live trading with a long and short playbook. His own site, pinelotrading.com, adds a starter guide, private one-to-one mentoring and a separate introductory futures course. In July 2026 he spoke on futures versus small caps at XVN’s sold-out day of talks and live trading in Seville, his home city.

The fixed point of his week is Wednesday. He goes live on YouTube and Twitch at about 4:50 pm in Spain, 10:50 am in New York. For an hour or two he trades small caps and answers questions, sometimes with Comas as his guest. Between streams come explainers on setups, locates and brokers, and reviews of new prop-firm accounts. He also hosts the traders around him, from Sniper Yoel and TradeToday’s Alejandro Valverde to the GapperLab team. His advice to newcomers is practical: ask an educator for a track record and, above all, for proof that they trade live. Ten years in, he says he is in his prime. "Esto hay que darle tiempo y todo llega" [Give this time and it all comes], he tells anyone starting out.

How Pinelo trades

Nasdaq breakouts, one clean shot

The futures system he taught for years is a breakout method on Nasdaq-100 futures. He laid it out in full in an August 2022 video, trading the micro contract in NinjaTrader. He works from a stack of charts. The daily and 60-minute charts give background, and a 5-minute chart shows the prior day, the opening gap and anything unusual overnight. The 1-minute chart is for execution. After the 9:30 am New York open he marks the support and resistance zones the session builds. His rule is simple: a rejection, then a candle that takes out the previous bar’s high or low. A clean break of a zone is the trade.

Volume is context rather than a trigger. A climactic bar makes him wait, and a session running well below average volume makes him cautious. Risk is set before entry. The stop goes behind the structure, the target is usually one to one, and both stay put once the order is in. He compares the style to a sniper waiting in cover and firing once when the entry appears. He allowed himself one entry a day, and some weeks that meant a single trade.

Small caps, mostly from the short side

Small caps changed the rhythm. Some days the Nasdaq gave him nothing to trade, while in small caps, as he puts it, something is always moving in the premarket or at the open. His September 2026 tier list ranks the setups he uses. Gap and crap is his A+: a gapper near VWAP that tries to break out at the open, fails and traps the buyers. He shorts it with risk near the high of the day or the premarket high. Gap extension, a stock already sliding below VWAP before the bell, is his A. Premarket breakouts and gap and go cover the long side. In July 2026 a First Red Day short gave him what he calls the best trade of his life.

He trades through the broker SageTrader and journals every trade, noting the setup and how he felt that day. He fixes a maximum daily loss and runs the account like the capital of a business. Recognizing a setup, he reminds students, is only one part of the job. Picking the stock, reading the context, sizing the position and knowing where the setup is invalidated do the rest. As with every trader profiled here, the approach is described from his own material and is not a recommendation; futures trading involves substantial risk of loss.
