Two live sessions a day, and the tools behind them

Cove Trader goes live twice every weekday, about 9 am to noon and 2 to 4:30 pm Eastern, trading Nasdaq and S&P futures across a stack of prop-firm accounts. Off stream he writes free tools, publishes daily gamma levels for NQ and ES and keeps a public scoreboard of every strategy he has tested. His two most-watched videos are both practical: a walkthrough of free copy trading across firms, and “How I Got 11 Prop Firm Payouts In 12 Days”, which passed 58,000 views in two weeks.

Who is Cove Trader?

Plenty of prop-firm traders stream the market open. Cove Trader also builds much of what is on his screen. Between two live sessions every weekday he writes NinjaTrader add-ons, runs strategy ideas through a year of data and posts the results on his own site, failures included. His order-flow reader, his gamma levels and his trade copier all began as tools for his own accounts. Then he gave them away. So far he counts nineteen NinjaTrader 8 tools, all free with the source included, and nine of them are ready to download.

He publishes under the channel name and keeps the attention on the charts. The channel opened on 24 April 2024 with short recaps of two funded accounts. Two days later he posted the method he leaned on then, a 15-minute opening range breakout. His first live stream went out on 5 June 2024, billed as a chance to test his system, and morning sessions followed two days later. That August he filmed a walkthrough of copying trades for free across several prop firms in NinjaTrader. Still his most-watched tutorial, with more than 40,000 views, it pointed the way to the copier he would later write himself.

The trading is intraday Nasdaq futures, with the S&P 500 alongside and gold on some days. His stream titles spell out the toolkit: ICT concepts such as fair value gaps and their inversions, NQ gamma levels and order flow. The levels come from his GEX Desk, which rescales dealer gamma from SPY and QQQ options to futures each weekday before the open. The order flow comes from Cove Flow, a tape reader that stitches the pieces of a large order back into one. Trades are copied across a stack of evaluation and funded accounts, 38 of them in his recap of 1 October 2026.

The research is what sets the channel apart. Since July 2026 covetrader.com has run as a research blog, with a public scoreboard of every strategy he has backtested: survivors, ideas still in testing and outright failures. Tests carry realistic slippage over a full year, and the dead strategies stay on the board. He has also filmed a series, begun in May 2026, on automating TradingView strategies into NinjaTrader with Claude. In October he used it to run 32,400 backtests for a single video. Around the research sit a free Discord of about 1,750 members and a newsletter. His invite-only TradingView scripts are free to anyone who installs his CoveTrader Prop Firm Discount browser extension. There are even browser games built for the stream, from a rubber-duck race to Chat Royale, a raffle drawn from the live chat.

The schedule rarely moves. More than 1,100 live sessions have aired since June 2024. Through 2026 he has held to two a day, about 9 am to noon and 2 to 4:30 pm Eastern, with prop-firm account giveaways running through the week. He has competed in public too. In October 2025 he joined about twenty creators, among them Uncle Bugatti, Mighty Ox Trading and ProlongWealth, in TradeDay’s first Influencer Cup. On day nine he stood second on the leaderboard, and in September 2026 he announced a win in a Lucid Trading competition. He is worth following for the combination: a working prop trader who shows the whole session, and a builder who hands viewers his own tools and numbers.

How Cove trades

Gamma levels, gaps and the tape

Cove Trader trades NQ and ES intraday, in a morning session that covers the open and an afternoon session that runs into the close. Before the bell he has the day’s gamma map: the flip level, the call wall above and the put wall below. The levels are rescaled from SPY and QQQ options and posted free each weekday, and his site calls them context, not signals. On the chart he works with ICT-style structure, from fair value gaps and their inversions to higher-timeframe candles and SMT divergence, all framed against the opening range and the initial balance.

Order flow sits beside the levels. Cove Flow, the tape reader he wrote, groups the slices of a large order back into one and marks sweeps, absorption, imbalance and pressure live on the chart. Entries are copied across his stack of evaluation and funded accounts, so a single setup can count on many accounts at once. With automated strategies, he has described switching one off ahead of an FOMC release rather than trusting it through the news.

Tested before it is traded

Off camera, his ideas go through a testing routine. They are written as TradingView strategies or NinjaTrader code, run over a year or more of data with slippage, then retested out of sample. Most candidates fail at that stage, he writes, as strong 90-day results fade over a full year. The one-minute NQ breakout of the opening range and initial balance survived, and in his published test it showed a profit factor near 1.7 over 365 days, costs included. His session statistics give three years of base rates for initial-balance breaks, gap fills and opening ranges, each with its sample size and a 95% confidence interval.

The same discipline shapes how he treats a result. In one video he describes passing an evaluation on the first try with a single strategy from his free indicator page. He tells viewers to stay with a plan they have tested rather than chase someone else’s screenshot. Blindspot, another of his tools, reads a trader’s own NinjaTrader archive to show what the results actually say. As with every trader profiled here, the approach is described from his own material and is not a recommendation; futures trading involves substantial risk of loss.

See how the wider prop-trading field is positioned in NQ while you study a method like this: MarketFramework's Positioning Edge shows live long/short splits across ES, NQ, MES and MNQ from real evaluation and funded accounts, and Prop Backtest scores strategies against prop-firm rules.
