BEST KNOWN FOR
Rejection blocks and the 10 a.m. open
Powell is best known for two tools. He confirms rejection blocks with a candle close and takes his timing from key opens, above all the 10 a.m. open. Lessons on both are his most-watched videos, led by "How to find tick precision entries everyday" at 317,000 views. Since July 2026 other creators have posted breakdowns, backtests and daily streams of what they call the Powell 10AM Model, including one in Turkish.

Who is Powell Trades?
To his viewers, Powell is "the rejection block guy," a label he uses himself. His Instagram bio goes one better: "Rejection block final boss." The Norway-based Nasdaq futures trader has posted only sixteen long-form YouTube videos since June 2025, yet the channel has passed three million views and 83,000 subscribers. What he teaches is compact: rejection blocks, key opens and a Fibonacci check on every entry. One of those ideas now travels without him. Since July 2026 other creators have published breakdowns, backtests and daily streams of what they call the Powell 10AM Model.
He is open about how he got there. Before trading he tried real estate, drop shipping and a social media agency, and found that sales work did not suit an introvert. He was 22 when he opened a small live account in April 2023, hoping to pay for new motorcycle gear. Then came the education most traders recognize: free YouTube lessons, busy Discords, months of strategy-hopping and blown evaluations, once fifteen in a single day. He quit his job that October anyway, with a thin cushion and a stubborn belief that one good month could turn everything around.
The turn came in May 2024, when he stopped trading on emotion. He took one trade a day, set entry, stop and target as limit orders, and shut the laptop, win or lose. June 2024 brought his first five-figure month, he says. His model grew from the same self-knowledge. Big losses next to small wins were hard for him to stomach, so he built around tight stops at precise levels and targets several times larger. He draws on ICT concepts but has made them his own. Most mornings he watches NQ into the 10 a.m. open, and if the setup he wants does not form, he simply gets off the chart.
His home base is Dumb Money Concepts, a free Discord of more than 42,000 members. There he marks the levels he is watching and explains why they matter, rather than calling entries. He also gives away evaluation accounts every week and streams big releases such as CPI. The Premium Lifetime tier on Whop adds his trading models, more than 50 lesson videos and premium chats, and holds a 4.8 rating from 257 reviews. One-to-one coaching is by application. His advice to complete beginners is to learn from free YouTube content before paying anyone, him included.
He uploads about once a month, mixing chart lessons with plain-spoken talks on psychology filmed at his desk or from behind the wheel. The audience has grown quickly, from 26,000 subscribers in November 2025 to 53,000 in May 2026 and 83,000 by October. His charts stay sparse: a few levels and an entry. He reminds viewers that real trading is pretty boring. His X bio, "Talking to my beginner self," sums up the voice. That beginner is never far from his videos, which is why the lessons land. Powell teaches the habits that got him through: fewer trades, defined risk and the patience to walk away from the screen.
How Powell trades
Rejection blocks and key opens
Powell works top down: find the draw on liquidity, read the structure around it, then wait for a precise entry. The entry is usually a rejection block, defined his way. A wick sweeps liquidity or taps a higher-timeframe level, and a candle then closes in his direction to confirm it. An order block, fair value gap, key open or Fibonacci level under that sweep makes it stronger. On the one- or five-minute chart the wick becomes his entry trigger, with the stop just beyond it.
Key opens supply the timing. The 10 a.m. Eastern open is also the open of a four-hour candle, and almost every four-hour candle leaves a wick on both sides. So he lets price push one way after 10 a.m., treats that push as the manipulation and trades the move back through the open. He wants one- and five-minute closes beyond the line, then sets a limit at the open or waits for a rejection block. The midnight open plays the same role for bias. Fibonacci levels at 0.5, 0.62 and 0.79 check the entry, while unfilled new week opening gaps and NQ/ES divergence frame the day.
Fewer trades, bigger targets
He describes his style as high reward-to-risk, a decent win rate and low trade frequency, sometimes three trades in a week. Targets usually run four to six times the risk, and stops follow the day’s volatility rather than a fixed size. He built it around his temperament. After a loss he halves his risk for one last trade, after a win he gets off the chart, and two losses end the day.
The days he skips matter as much as the setups. He sits out no-news Mondays, the hours before CPI, PPI and payrolls, and mornings ahead of an afternoon Fed decision. He also stands aside when London or Asia has already made the day’s big move, or when NQ and ES stop moving together. His prop-firm accounts trade as one group through a copier, sized as if they were a single live account. As with every trader profiled here, the approach is described from his own material and is not a recommendation; futures trading involves substantial risk of loss.
