A full session on camera, almost every trading day since 2024
Diego has uploaded close to 600 videos since January 2024, nearly all of them full NQ sessions with the plan, the trade and the review. The record runs from his first Topstep combine through his first funded account in January 2025 and his first payout in August 2025. Every Fourth of July he adds an anniversary video that tallies what trading has cost him and what it has paid.
IN DIEGO'S WORDS
“I chase progress. I chase improvements. I don’t chase week to week, day to day. I look back in years.”
YouTube, July 2026 (3 Years Day Trading)
“I want this bad, man. I want to be good at trading. I want to understand how to make money trading. I want to do this for real.”
YouTube, October 2026
“Focus on your setup. Focus on what you’re doing. Improve each day. Journal, learn from mistakes. That’s what trading is about.”
YouTube, November 2025

Who is Diego Barrera Trades?
Diego Barrera’s YouTube channel runs on one rule: show everything. Since January 2024 he has posted on almost every trading day, close to 600 uploads in all. Nearly every one is a full Nasdaq futures session, with the plan, the entries and the review. Green days and red days get the same camera and the same honest title. The mission, in his channel’s own words, is to show anyone “that trading is possible if you keep going and showing up each day.” His first evaluation, his first funded account and his first payout are all on the record, along with every lesson in between.
The story starts on a soccer field. Diego played in college until a health setback and the distance from home led him to leave school and move back. Around then he watched his retired father trade futures, and he was hooked. In the summer of 2023 he worked through TJR’s YouTube bootcamp, checking charts even on a Fourth of July family trip. That trip is why his trading anniversary videos land on July 4. He paper traded for a few months and bought his first Topstep 50K combine in October 2023. To pay for evaluations he coached soccer five nights a week, kept his bills low and treated each monthly fee as tuition rather than a bet.
He opened the channel in January 2024, six months into trading, as a video journal. The early uploads were NQ daily-bias notes and a numbered run of daily trade recaps that reached Day 100 that October. Progress took patience, and he filmed all of it. He passed his first combine in January 2025, a year and a half after he started trading. The turn came in July 2025, when he committed to one trade a day at fixed risk and nursed an account that was nearly out of drawdown back to health. His first payout followed in August 2025, from Topstep. His November 2025 upload “2 Years Of Trading Losses Made Back In 1 Month (Don’t Quit)” is now his second most-watched video.
The trading is ICT-based and fast. He builds a bias from the weekly, daily and hourly charts, then checks NQ against ES to see which index is leading. He enters on the one-minute and 30-second charts, often off an inverse fair value gap, using micro contracts. In a two-hour breakdown in September 2026 he named a concept of his own, the “inversion SMT.” Sessions go up most weekday mornings, and on Fridays he aims to trade live inside Untapped Trading, his free Discord community of about 2,000 members. He even nicknames his accounts after soccer players, so viewers follow the “Mbappé account” and the “Vinnie account.”
Seven prop firms carry his code, DIEGO. He credits the viewers who use it with funding his account giveaways, such as the Lucid 50K Flex evaluation he offered in October 2026. That same month he went back to Topstep, where he has no code at all, and gave a simple reason: “I want to do this for real.” His Instagram bio reads “Execution > Talk,” and every recent video description signs off with “Love And Appreciate Y’all See Yah Tomorrow, Peace.” His channel now has 9,350 subscribers and 1.39 million views. For traders working through their own evaluations, it shows the long road honestly, one session at a time.
How Diego trades
Top-down bias, NQ against ES
Diego builds the day from the top down. He starts on the weekly and daily charts, marks the highs and lows that price is likely to reach for, and reads structure on the hourly. His reference points include the high and low of the week, the midnight open and the “data lows” set around economic releases. The question that ties them together is which index is leading. When NQ and ES disagree at a high or a low, that SMT divergence tells him which side is weaker.
Execution happens on the one-minute and 30-second charts, and sometimes the 15-second. His usual trigger is an inversion: a fair value gap that price trades through and flips. The same setup runs through his earliest uploads in 2024. In his 23 October 2026 session, for instance, he moved his stop to break-even at the next five-minute gap and aimed for the liquidity he had marked before the open. In his September 2026 breakdown he coined a term on camera, the “inversion SMT,” for when leadership passes from one index to the other.
Micro size and one shot per account
Risk is where his results turned. In July 2025 he committed to one trade a day at fixed risk, using one or two micro contracts. The next month, that discipline brought his first payout. His current routine extends the idea. Each account gets one trade, enforced with a lockout, so two accounts mean at most two attempts. He trades mostly the New York open, and in October 2026 he did so across four Topstep express funded accounts plus a Topstep combine. That month he also filmed his first Asia-session trade, which closed out a payout.
The review matters as much as the trade. His sessions end with an on-camera look back at what worked and what he would change. He counts a patient, rule-following week as a good one even when the profit is small. The title of his 23 October 2026 upload says as much: “1 Of My Best Trading Weeks Not Profit But Mental.” As with every trader profiled here, the approach is described from his own material and is not a recommendation; futures trading involves substantial risk of loss.
