BEST KNOWN FOR

Footprint, price ladder and the live trading floor

Axia Futures is the rare trading educator that is also a working prop desk. Co-founded in 2016 by Alex Haywood and Demetris Mavrommatis, it trains traders the way a professional firm does: on the DOM and the footprint chart, through volume and market profile, and around central-bank and geopolitical events. Then, through its sister firm Axia Markets Pro, it allocates capital to the ones who make it. Its three most-watched videos are footprint workshops with more than 770,000 views between them, and a two-minute tour of the London floor has been watched 274,000 times. Feedspot ranks the channel ninth among futures YouTubers for 2026. In 2025 the firm published Traders of Our Time, a 500-page book drawn from eighty hours of conversations with ten elite traders.

Who is Axia Futures?

Axia Futures was incorporated in London in June 2016 by four directors who are still there a decade later, led on the trading side by co-founders Alex Haywood, Head of Strategy, and Demetris Mavrommatis, Head of Trading. Haywood has spent his whole career in proprietary trading, much of it building trading teams across Europe; Mavrommatis came from investment-banking M&A at HSBC and trades large positions through global macro events. Their premise was simple and unusual for the education business: teach retail traders the way a prop desk trains its own, on a real floor, and give the best of them a seat.

The floor is the identity. Axia’s London desk at Endsleigh Street and its Limassol floor, opened in 2022, are marketed with the line "to be the best, surround yourself with the best," and the firm says its trading team has grown from six people in 2016 to more than a hundred across the floors and remote satellite teams. Its sister company, Axia Markets Pro, clears and risk-manages the team and allocates capital through the Axia Selection Programme. That firm is FCA-regulated, and its lineage runs back to FCT, the Chicago market-maker founded in 1984.

On YouTube, Axia is the channel that taught the footprint chart to the retail world. The three-part Footprint Trading Workshop from 2019, a 2018 tutorial on reading the footprint, and a 2021 cumulative-delta lesson are among the most-viewed order-flow videos in existence, with the channel past 8 million views and 1,170 uploads. Head of Training Richard Bailey, a futures trader since 2008, fronts much of the current output, alongside price-ladder execution videos with the firm’s traders. A 2026 podcast series has sat down with Axia Markets Pro’s chief executive, with a trader who, as the episode tells it, had just had his first multi-seven-figure day, and with graduates who moved countries to join the Cyprus floor.

The curriculum starts with a free weekly Elite Trader Workshop. From there it runs through £1,200 edge courses (Trading with Order Flow, The Footprint Edge, Volume Profiling, Central Bank Trading Strategies, The Prop Trading Code) to the four-week Career Programme, delivered in London, Cyprus or live online, and on to a six-month Blueprint coaching programme benchmarked against the standard the firm applies when considering traders for capital. Its proprietary tools include Skyll, a trader-intelligence platform with tick-level performance analytics, and the 5 AXIA Edge Domains, the framework for tagging every trade by the edge it came from: technicals, geopolitics, scheduled and unscheduled news, central banks and macro flows.

Few names in retail futures carry the same institutional weight. Haywood sat on a Bloomberg panel in 2018 after the team’s trades around the Italian election, and the firm has partnered with Jigsaw Trading and, in 2026, with ATAS on order-flow practice. Traders of Our Time, co-written by Haywood and former Axia trader Bogdan Stoichescu, gave the industry its most candid portrait of how elite discretionary traders actually think. For traders who want to learn from people who trade for a living, on a floor that still exists, Axia is the address.

How Axia trades

The price ladder is the source of truth

Axia teaches trading as an auction read from the order book rather than from indicators. The price ladder, the DOM, is where its traders execute and where they read intent: absorption at a level, a book sweep, size pulled or stacked, the "fast flip" as one side gives way. The footprint chart adds the record of what actually traded at each price, and cumulative delta tracks whether aggression is being rewarded. Volume and market profile supply the map: value areas, poor highs and lows, the levels where the auction is likely to react.

The firm’s named order-flow strategies (Volume Stop Hit and Run, Fast Flip, Order Book Sweep, Delta Punch) are execution tactics for specific book behaviours, and its 2026 series shows them applied in real time on the ladder.

Five edge domains, many markets

What distinguishes a professional desk from a retail screen, in Axia’s framing, is that edge is contextual. The 5 AXIA Edge Domains classify every trade by where its edge came from (technical structure, geopolitical developments, scheduled and unscheduled news, central-bank policy, or macro and flow), so a trader learns which environments reward their skills and which do not. Central-bank and event trading get their own course; the desk’s reputation was partly made on European bond futures around political shocks.

Axia traders work across Eurex and CME products (Bunds and BTPs, E-mini S&P, crude oil, gold) on platforms such as Sierra Chart, ATAS and Trading Technologies, and the Career Programme ends with a week of live benchmarking on the floor. As with every profile here, the approach is described from the firm’s own material and is not a recommendation; futures trading involves substantial risk of loss.

AXIA FUTURES: FREQUENTLY ASKED

What does Axia Futures trade?

Global futures on Eurex and CME: European government bonds such as the Bund, E-mini S&P 500, crude oil and gold, traded discretionarily from the price ladder and footprint chart, with a strong emphasis on central-bank and geopolitical event trading.

What is Axia Futures best known for?

Its footprint-chart and order-flow education, the most-watched footprint tutorials on YouTube, its real trading floors in London and Limassol, the four-week Career Programme, and the 2025 book Traders of Our Time. It is one of the few educators that also runs a professional prop desk.

Who founded Axia Futures?

Alex Haywood, Head of Strategy, and Demetris Mavrommatis, Head of Trading, co-founded the firm in London in 2016 alongside two other directors, all of whom remain in place. Richard Bailey is Head of Training and Development.

Does Axia Futures fund traders?

Yes, through its sister company Axia Markets Pro, an FCA-regulated proprietary firm that trades its own capital. Traders who come through Axia’s programmes can be considered for capital allocation via the Axia Selection Programme; it is a desk seat, not an evaluation challenge.

How much do Axia Futures courses cost?

As listed in September 2026: edge courses such as Trading with Order Flow and The Footprint Edge at £1,200 each, the introductory course at £990, the four-week Career Programme at £3,490 online or £4,960 in-house, and a six-month Blueprint coaching programme. A free weekly Elite Trader Workshop is the usual entry point.
